(Video) A Journey from Learner Autonomy to Learner Empowerment: Transformation and Inspiration
Hội thảo VietTesol lần thứ được tổ chức tại Trường Đại học Ngoại ngữ – Đại học Huế từ ngày 11 đến 12/10/2019.
This speech tells a story of how an innovative teaching-learning model can transform learners’ learning experiences and inspire them to become co-creators of their learning activities. Snapshots of the creative, innovative and engaging “signature” CLC (Vietnamese acronym of the Fast-track program) projects and assignments will unfold the successes of and challenges for the students. They also reflect the development stages of the educational philosophy underlying the program, from facilitating learner-centeredness and learner autonomy, to fostering learner empowerment through a connected curriculum. More than ever, the students are empowered and engaged in a learning context which allows them to tap into the real working world through simulated and blended learning experiences, and thus prepares them for their future. English language learning for proficiency has been attached to authentic communication purposes and integrated with inter-disciplinary understanding, work and transferable skills. The speaker will finally introduce the multi-dimensional learning theory developed for the program and by the program, adopting Vygotsky’s Social Constructivism, Israeli Futuristic approach to education, the Global competences for graduates, and the 21st century learning model.
